On Hold

I've enjoyed blogging these past couple of months. It's been a wonderful creative experience. I'm so grateful I got to try this again! However, some projects have come up that will take time away from writing future posts. I will put this blog on hold as of today. If this is the first post you've read, I invite you to check out and enjoy previous posts in which I share reflections on the art making process and the back story from a selection of paintings I've created these past few years. You can stay in touch and follow me on Instagram @ruthborgesart, and/or visit my artist Facebook Page at Ruth Borges, Visual Artist.

Grateful for 9 precious qualities

This Thursday, many will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day with family and friends. But on the next day, Black Friday, the holiday rush begins to speed up with more planning, shopping, decorating, wrapping, cooking, baking, and gatherings. Very soon, December will have flown by. So, before all that fast forwards us into 2026, I’d like to share 9 precious life-giving qualities to be thankful for that nurture creativity:

love - the kind that casts out all fear

joy - that comes from a grateful heart

peace - that helps you rest

patience - that knows when and how to wait

kindness - that makes your heart glad

goodness - that lifts up your spirit

faithfulness - that relieves anxiety

gentleness - to handle brokenness

self-control - that plays the long game

I borrowed these nine attributes, also known as the fruit of the Spirit, from Galatians 5:22-23. All nine work together seamlessly from one creative source, the Holy Spirit. These qualities are expressed in how we relate to one another, and even in how we relate to ourselves. For instance, when we fail, do we respond toward ourselves according to any of those qualities listed above? It’s not easy but it’s worth all the time and effort it takes experience them. We can’t do it alone. We weren’t meant to. Walking in sync with the Spirit allows His fruit to grow and flow in our life, bless others, and bring glory to God.
